FSH overview
FSH, also known as follicle stimulating hormone, is secreted by the
pituitary gland. For women, its main function is to promote the
development and maturation of ovarian follicles, cooperate with
luteinizing hormone (LH) to promote the secretion of estrogen and
ovulation of mature follicles, and participate in the formation of
normal menstruation. It is of great significance for the treatment
of infertility and generally takes 5 ~ 40mIU/ml as the normal
value. Low FSH values were seen during estrogen treatment,
polycystic syndrome, Sheehan's syndrome, etc., while high FSH
values were seen in premature ovarian failure, ovarian hypoplasia,
pituitary precocious puberty, primary amenorrhea, etc
FSH Clinical significance
FSH peak changes in follicular phase were monitored dynamically to
accurately evaluate ovarian function
Assist in the diagnosis of amenorrhea, menopause, premature ovarian
failure (POF), ovulation mechanism disorders and other reproductive
endocrine diseases
